2008 Miscellaneous Pictures - These are pictures that appeared on various sites such as UMTERPS or Terrapin Times.
2008 Humanitarian Bowl - Because of the expense, no one made it to Boise to share in the experience of the Humanitarian Bowl with Danny but we followed the Terps progress every way we could. Dad and Aunt Lisa were sure that Santa Claus was going to bring a plane ticket for Christmas but it was not to be. At least we got the next best thing, a Terps victory!
Florida State Game - It was another COLD night in College Park! We came into this game hoping to win and go on the the ACC Championship if we could beat BC. Oops! FSU took it to the Terps and ended our hopes of going to Jacksonville, FL. We had a big crowd for the game including Mom, Dad, Kate, Tom, Jordan, Jimmy, Sarah, Aunt Jean, Aunt Lisa, Uncle Tony, Gretchen, Aunt Sharon, Uncle Wyatt, Chase and Jake. Uncle Jim and Aunt Lisa were at the tailgate but left before the game because Uncle Jim's knee was causing him problems. They turned out to be the lucky ones!
Fork Union Scrimmage - These pictures were taken on October 27, 2008 during the scrimmage between the Terps and Fork Union on the University of Maryland practice fields. Mom and Dad came down for the scrimmage. There was a light drizzle during the game. In the second-half Dan got into a shoving match with someone on Fork Union and the two had to be separated. Grrr.
NC State Game - What a mess! It seemed like we were standing in the middle of a monsoon all day long. Nothing was dry by the end of the day. We even had to use tarps around the truck tailgate to keep dry but the wind was blowing the tarp around. In attendance and wishing they had brought a second set of dry clothes was Mom, Dad, Tom, Kate, Jordan, Grandma Coffren, Uncle Tony, Aunt Lisa, Gretchen, Uncle Jim, Aunt Lisa, Jimmy, Sarah, Aunt Jean, Patrick, Chris C, and Chris's girlfriend Sarah. Under cover and out of the rain were Aunt Sharon, Uncle Billy, Billy and Nick. At least the Terps came away with a win on a last second field goal. After the game we were all treated to Patrick's boxers as he attempted to dry his jeans with the car heater! :)
Wake Forest Game - These pictures were taken on October 18, 2008 when the Terps played #21 Wake Forest at Byrd Stadium. The "usual suspects" were on hand to see Danny appear in his second game of the 2008 season. In attendance were Kate (she always wants to be listed first), Tom, Mom, Dad, Uncle Tony, Aunt Lisa, Uncle Jim, Aunt Lisa, Sarah, Jimmy, Jordan and Gretchen too! Dan came by the tailgate after the game under the pretense of celebrating the big shutout but we really know he stopped by the see the new grill that Mom & Dad bought for each other to celebrate their 22-year wedding anniversary. What better gift could there possibly be to celebrate a "smokin-hot" relationship. ;-)
NC Tech Scrimmage - These pictures were taken on October 6, 2008 during the scrimmage between the Terps and NC Tech on the University of Maryland practice fields. Mom and Dad came down for the scrimmage and took Danny out to dinner afterwards......yum, Three Brothers pizza!
Virginia Game - Mom, Dad, Kate and Tom made the trip to Charlottesville on a beautiful day to see the Terps take on the Cavaliers. Dan was late putting in the seat request so instead of getting 4 free player seats we ended purchasing visitor tickets. Virginia had been having a tough year but decided to turn their season around against the Terps. Hardly anything for Terp fans to get up and cheer about. A lot of Maryland students also made the trip down I-95. Unfortunately they all decided to come stand in the empty seats in front of us. We moved to the upper deck for the second-half but the change of locations provided no luck for the Terps. Despite the woeful results of the game, it was a very pleasent trip down and back. The tailgate consisted of some local grocery store chicken, chips, sodas and cookies. We had a long walk back to the car so we did not stick around to see Dan after the game besides since we purchased the tickets on our own without him knowing about it we did not realize that even knew we were at the game but he had seen Mom taking pictures during warmups.
Eastern Michigan Game - This game was unique in the Mom and Dad were the only ones to make it to the game. Tommy and Jimmy had a football game at Dominion High School in the evening and Aunt Lisa and Uncle Tony were out of town. Mom and Dad were glad they made it though as Danny made it into the game in the fourth-quarter and the Terps scored on that drive which was the first time they had scored in a regular season game while Danny was playing. Dan came back for a very small post-game tailgate in Lot 1. Mom & Dad then dropped Dan off to tailgate with the Galts and Sappingtons as they headed to Tommy and Jimmy's game.
California Game - These pictures were taken on September 13, 2008 during the game between the Terps and the Golden Bears of California. Terps were underdogs at home but rolled to a big halftime lead and then held California safe in the 4th quarter. At the game was Mom, Dad, Tom, Kate, Aunt Lisa M, Uncle Tony, Aunt Lisa E, Uncle Jim, Jimmy, Sarah, Chris Castro, Patrick Green and James Hatton.
Middle Tennessee State Game - Mom and Dad made the trip to Murfreesboro, TN to see the Terps take on the Blue Raiders. It figured to be a romp and a good time for Terp fans, right? Wrong! The Terps seemed to sleepwalk through the first three quarters. Other than a big play or two not much happend right for the Terps. Seeing the team come out of the locker room and head to the bus was very depressing. A lot of long faces. Before the game, Mom and Dad's tailgate consisted of a six-pack of Coors Light. The really hard part was the ride home on Sunday morning. That's a long ride period but after being upset by a team that I think had never beaten a team from a BCS conference it seemed so much longer than the ride down.
Delaware Game - These pictures were from the first game of the 2008 season against the Delaware Blue Hens. The first 8 pictures were taken by Aunt Beth Ann. We had a big crowd before the game and an even bigger one after the game. Before the game the tailgaters consisted of Mom, Dad, Kate, Tom, Jordan, Uncle Tony, Aunt Lisa, Uncle Jim, Aunt Lisa, Jimmy, Sarah, Uncle Eddie, Aunt Beth Ann, Elizabeth and "Bud Bud". We stayed fairly late, eating & drinking at the tailgate, but it would have been so much more fun if Danny had gotten into the game.
2008 Media Day - These are pictures from the 2008 Maryland Football Media Day.
Red/White Spring Game - The 2008 spring game was a blast! This was our first spring game tailgate. We setup next to the tennis courts across from the stadium. The day included lots of good food, player autographs, t-shirt and poster giveaways. In attendance was Mom, Dad, Kate, Tom, Aunt Lisa E, Uncle Jim, Jimmy, Sarah, Aunt Lisa M, Uncle Bob. A group from the Tuscarora Titan football team was also at the game. Earlier in the day they had toured the Terps weightroom and listed to Terps Coach Peerman. Tommy and OB arrived a little later as the Titan Baseball team had a makeup game earlier in the day. After the game everyone was on the field talking with Dan and a few of the Maryland coaches. Danny came by the tailgate after the game and fired the grill up for some more eats.
Spring Football Scrimmage

- April 12, 2008 - Mom and Dad attended this scrimmage which included a few sprinkles at the begining. Mom and Dad saw Senator Mike Miller at the scrimmage but didn't get a chance to speak with him before he left. Senator Miller is a long time Terps fan and friend of the Coffrens and in fact he had sent Grandma Coffren a nice note when Danny first joined the team.
- April 19, 2008 - Kate, Tom, Jimmy, Mom and Dad attended this scrimmage.
